About the App

Lull is a native macOS email client. Instead of pinging you the moment mail arrives, it delivers mail in batches on a schedule you choose — so you can actually focus. It's the spiritual successor to the discontinued Tempo (2018–2021), rebuilt native and open source.

Status

Lull is in active development and is not yet available on the Mac App Store — this page will be updated with download instructions at launch.

Features

Scheduled Batches

Mail is held client-side and released at the times you set (default 9am and 4pm), rather than arriving the instant it's sent. Nothing is held back on the server — it's purely a client-side visibility gate.

Sort

A full-screen, one-message-at-a-time triage view, so you move through your inbox without getting lost in a crowded list.

Focus Mode

A split-screen view — the message you're acting on the left, a reply composer on the right — with Send & Archive and Send & Keep actions.

Local Search

Mail syncs to a local database with full-text search, so search is fast and works offline.

Account & Authentication

Lull connects to Gmail using Google OAuth. This means:

Your Google password is never shared with the app
You authorize access through Google's own secure sign-in page
You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions
Authentication tokens are stored securely in macOS Keychain

Supported Providers

Gmail is the only supported provider today. Lull's mail layer is built behind a provider-agnostic interface, so additional providers may be added later.

Q: Is Lull available now?

A: Not yet — it's in active development.

Q: Do I need a Gmail account?

A: Yes, for now. Gmail is the only supported mail provider.

Q: Can I use the app offline?

A: Yes — mail already synced to your Mac is cached locally and searchable offline. You'll need a connection to fetch new mail or send.

Q: What macOS version is required?

A: macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later.

Q: Is Lull open source?

A: Yes. The source is published under the MPL-2.0 license. Official signed builds will be sold on the Mac App Store to fund development, but anyone can build the app from source for free.
