About the App

Cash Dashboard Lite for Stripe is a native macOS menu bar app that shows your Stripe revenue data at a glance — today's sales, MRR, recent payments, and weekly trends. It supports multiple Stripe accounts and sends notifications when new sales come in.

Getting Started

  1. Download Cash Dashboard Lite from the Mac App Store
  2. Launch the app — it appears as a dollar sign icon in your menu bar
  3. Click the menu bar icon to open the dashboard
  4. Add your Stripe API key (restricted key with read-only access recommended)
  5. Your revenue data appears instantly

Setting Up Your Stripe API Key

Creating a Restricted API Key (Recommended)

For security, we recommend creating a restricted read-only API key:

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard
  2. Go to Developers → API Keys
  3. Click "Create restricted key"
  4. Give it a name like "Cash Dashboard Lite"
  5. Grant Read access to: Charges, Balance, Customers, and Subscriptions
  6. Copy the key and paste it into the app

Key Security

Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain — the same secure storage macOS uses for your passwords. It is never saved in plain text, never logged, and never sent anywhere except directly to Stripe's API.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my Stripe data sent to your servers?

A: No. The app connects directly to the Stripe API from your Mac. We have no servers and never see your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Q: What Stripe permissions does the app need?

A: Read access to Charges, Balance, Customers, and Subscriptions. We recommend using a restricted API key with only these permissions.

Q: Can I use a test mode API key?

A: Yes! You can use a Stripe test mode key to try the app with test data. Or use the built-in Demo Mode which doesn't require any API key.

Q: What macOS version is required?

A: macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later.

Q: Is this a subscription?

A: No. Cash Dashboard Lite is a one-time purchase of $19.99. No subscription, no recurring fees.

Q: Does it work with Stripe Connect accounts?

A: The app works with standard Stripe accounts. Connect platform accounts may have limited functionality depending on your setup.

Troubleshooting

No data showing

Make sure your API key is correct and has the required read permissions. Try using a test mode key first to verify the connection works.

App doesn't appear in menu bar

Cash Dashboard Lite runs as a menu bar app (no Dock icon). Look for the icon in your menu bar at the top of the screen. If your menu bar is crowded, the icon may be hidden — try using Bartender or similar to manage menu bar items.

Notifications not working

Make sure notifications are enabled for Cash Dashboard Lite in System Settings → Notifications.
