Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does TikTalk - Timer need an internet connection?
A: No. The app is fully offline. It makes no network requests.
Q: Where is my data stored?
A: Custom presets and preferences are stored locally on your Mac inside the App Sandbox container. Nothing is uploaded or synced.
Q: Can I change the global hotkey?
A: Not yet. ⌘⇧T is the only global hotkey in version 1.0. Configurable hotkeys are on the roadmap.
Q: Does the global hotkey require Accessibility permission?
A: TikTalk - Timer uses Carbon's RegisterEventHotKey API, so it does not require Accessibility permission to register ⌘⇧T.
Q: Why doesn't the app have a dock icon?
A: TikTalk - Timer is designed as a menu bar utility. We set LSUIElement in the app's Info.plist so it runs entirely in the menu bar with no dock presence.
Q: What Mac do I need?
A: macOS 13 Ventura or later, on any Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel).
Troubleshooting
The global hotkey doesn't work
Another app may have already registered ⌘⇧T. Quit the conflicting app, or relaunch TikTalk - Timer after closing the conflict. Configurable hotkeys are on the roadmap.
I don't hear the completion sound
Check your system volume and make sure macOS notifications are allowed for TikTalk - Timer in System Settings → Notifications.
A preset I added isn't showing up
Presets are stored per-user inside the App Sandbox container. If the preset was added in a different macOS user account, it won't appear in this one. Try quitting and relaunching the app.
