Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5/5/2026
Introduction
At lost end found Ltd, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how Tasks for Obsidian ("the App") handles your data.
Data Collection and Use
Tasks for Obsidian is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App operates entirely on your local device and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.
Local Data Access
The App only accesses the following data on your local device:
- Obsidian Configuration: Reads your Obsidian configuration to detect available vaults
- Vault Files: Reads and writes markdown (`.md`) files in your Obsidian vaults to parse, edit, and round-trip tasks
- App Settings: Stores user preferences locally on your device
No Data Collection
We do NOT collect:
- Personal information or identifiers
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Task content, metadata, or vault structure
- App usage patterns
- Crash reports or diagnostics
In-App Purchases
Tasks for Obsidian offers an optional Pro upgrade through Apple's StoreKit. All payment processing is handled by Apple — we never see, store, or process your payment details. Apple provides us only with a yes/no entitlement signal indicating whether you have an active Pro subscription or lifetime unlock. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase data.
Data Storage and Security
All data processed by Tasks for Obsidian remains on your local device:
- Local Processing: All task parsing, editing, and indexing happens locally
- No Cloud Storage: We do not store your tasks or any data in the cloud
- Sandbox Security: The App runs in a macOS sandbox for enhanced security
- Atomic File Writes: Edits are written safely with mtime conflict detection
- File System Access: Only accesses files you explicitly authorize
Permissions
The App requests the following permissions with your explicit consent:
- File System Access: To read and write `.md` files in your Obsidian vaults
- Obsidian Configuration Access: To detect and connect to your vaults
- Notifications: Optional. If granted, the App schedules local reminders for tasks with due dates. Notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on-device.
Third-Party Services
Tasks for Obsidian does not integrate with any third-party services that collect or process
your data. The only external interaction is opening obsidian:// deep links you explicitly invoke (for example, the "Open in Obsidian" action), which hand off
to the Obsidian app on your device.
Data Retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device, data retention is entirely under your control. The App does not retain any data beyond what is necessary for its operation on your device.
Your Rights
Because the App operates entirely locally and does not collect personal data:
- You have complete control over your data
- You can revoke file access permissions at any time through macOS System Preferences
- You can delete the App and all its data by removing it from your Applications folder
- You can manage or cancel your Pro subscription through the App Store at any time:
System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
Children's Privacy
Tasks for Obsidian does not collect any personal information, making it compliant with children's privacy protection regulations by design.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Since the App does not collect data, significant changes to our privacy practices are unlikely.
